Dad's Day

For Fathers' Day, Kristina and Nathaniel decided to spoil me. Kristina asked me well in advance what I'd like to do. I said, "I'd like to go fishing." So, Kristina packed up a picnic lunch, and we went to the Cook County Forest Preserves to find some places to fish.

Needless to say, I expected little from the fish, and little fish is what I got. After 2 spots and numerous hours, I had 2 tiny striped bass and a sweaty shirt to show for my efforts...I loved it! Of course, I would have liked to have caught more and larger fish, but one of my favorite things is getting out and throwing my line into the water.

Kristina and Nathaniel watched from a distance while they played, read and took pictures (click here to see more). After fishing, we went to one of my favorite restaurants, where Nathaniel promptly rocked himself to sleep.

Then, we came home and opened my Fathers' Day presents. Nathaniel made me a great coaster that says, "Best Dad." However, he decided he wanted it for himself and didn't give it back for almost an hour. After that, we all walked to Rainbow Cone to get my free Fathers' Day cone. Yum!

By the end of the day, we were all exhausted and a little bit sunburned, but I couldn't have asked for a better 1st Fathers' Day!
