Kicking

One of the things I actually love (and, ok, sometimes hate) about being pregnant is feeling and watching the baby move around. I've felt the baby move and kick for a while now, but the visual effects add a whole new element. My stomach moves and shakes in ways I never thought possible. Both Christopher and I will watch in amazement and wonder what on earth the baby is doing in there.

Another technique baby Appelt has been practicing is pushing. His favorite spot to apply constant pressure is my stomach/chest area (hence the love/hate). When the pain becomes too great, I've tried pushing back or guiding his foot off an area. However, I've discovered that only encourages him to push harder. He definitely has started responding to my touch. Feeling all this movement is making me so excited to meet him.

The Littlest Appelt...in 3-D!

Movies in 3-D seem to be the latest trend...Brenden Frasier did it in Journey to the Center of the Earth. Even the littlest Appelt starred in his own 3-D movie!

Today, we went for our latest ultrasound. We were pleased to learn everything looks great, and we were surprised to learn he weighs approximately (based on measurements) 4.5 lbs. Interestingly, that puts him in the 76th percentile, so he's not unusually big . This is definitely one time we don't want him up too high on the scale. :-)

Another surprise we had was when the technician offered to let use see the baby in 4-D. We got to see our little guy moving around in 3-D. He even opened his mouth for us...too cute! It was amazing to see his face and expressions. We were both nearly overwhelmed with emotion. Take a look at his latest pics and let us know what you think. His mom thinks he's got his dad's nose, but we spared you the pictures supporting that opinion. ;-)

He looks like a sleeping angel!

Look at that little mouth!

New Doctor

After a two month health care sabbatical- not by my choice- I finally got to meet my new doctor. My first impression......

I really like him. He has a great bedside manner and seemed to actually care about my health care. He even went through my old medical records page by page to make sure he was up to speed with everything. He was a little concerned about my gap in health care, so we focused on what tests (glucose screening and ultrasound to check out the partial previa placenta) that would get me caught up asap. He even called the hospital and booked the ultrasound for me!

I'm happy that I like him, but more than anything it's a relief to have a doctor again.
