Rocking and Running

I did a training run last night after getting the go-ahead from my doctor. While I was running around the neighborhood, I noticed a rocking chair out by someone's trash. Although I didn't stop, it seemed to be in really good condition. So, when I got home I told Kristina about it.

We've been trying for some time to decide what we wanted to do for a rocking chair in the baby's room. Kristina has spent tons of time on craig's list trying to find a glider rocker that isn't horrendously overpriced and isn't horrendous looking. Slim pickings indeed.

So, under the cover of darkness, Kristina and I drove to the house with the chair, looked as closely as we could in the dark, and decided to snag it. We were pleasantly surprised to see it was in really good shape and looked nice. It's even pretty comfortable. Seems like a good "baby rocking" chair.

Now all I need is a brain and some courage

Despite comments by a few of my former students to the contrary, I do have a heart (see below for evidence). Last week, my heart started having PVCs (premature ventricular contractions). The pulse feels like it's skipping beats. By themselves, PVCs aren't bad, but they could be a sign of problems. So, the doctor decided to hospitalize me for observation and to run tests. Fortunately, all my tests have come back indicating I am healthy, and I have the go-ahead to continue my marathon training. It was a bit of a scare, though, and poor Kristina gave tremendous support despite having to sleep alone 3 nights (once when I was in the hospital and 2 nights after they injected me with radiation for a test).

Here's an ultrasound image of my heart.
It's turned upside-down to show the heart in it's proper orientation.

Tummy Pics

Well, my pregnancy is coming to an end. I start my 35th week on Tuesday. The baby's kicks have stopped being cute and are now just most of the time downright painful. His favorite place to kick is my liver. I also don't think my stomach has grown enough to keep up with the baby. There is always a little piece of him sticking out somewhere- though it is kinda cute when his little bottom is sticking out.

Here are some tummy pics we took today before my prenatal yoga class:

Here is Calli trying to get in on the action::

Dishes

One of my least favorite chores is washing dishes. So, I especially love my husband for doing the dishes 98 percent of the time. However, one part of dishes duty that he hates is unloading the dishes he has already washed. So it is not uncommon for me to find something like this:

When I came across this masterpiece this morning, I noticed 3 different meals worth of dishes on display (yes, we have a dishwasher but we hand wash some things). What these pictures don't do justice is 1) how big our dish drying rack actually is and 2) how precariously these dishes are being balanced.
