Bath Time

By the end of the day, Nathaniel is one messy boy (wait until you see what he looks like after meals). So, a nightly bath is no longer optional. Now that we have moved to the big tub and added some toys, he thinks baths are pretty cool. Bath time also brings out his chatty side. Nathaniel likes to tell us all kinds of stories while he takes his bath.

Hello there...

Nathaniel is fascinated by this lion statue that is tucked on the side of our couch by the card catalog. He peeks around the corner to look at it, talks to it over the couch edge, and sometimes musters the courage to actually touch it! Going to check on the lion is now part of his daily routine.

Michigan

We were fortunate to have a lot of family visit this summer. As much as we enjoy showing off our beautiful city, it is nice sometimes to get out of town. The week my family came up we also took a short trip (4 days) to Michigan. We stayed north of Traverse City in a cabin on Lake Michigan. It is amazing how different the Lake Michigan in Traverse City looks from the Lake Michigan in Chicago- or that we are actually at the same lake! We enjoyed swimming, wineries, food, and lots (lots) of fresh fruit. Check out all our pictures: here.

Berry Boy

Nathaniel can make meal time challenging by turning is head at the last second or swatting at the spoon as it enters his mouth. So he usually is a mess by the end. Several weeks ago, Nathaniel decided to carefully stick his nose in the baby food that spilled on his tray. He emerged with a round spot on his nose.

Lovin' the Lake

As many of you have probably noticed (and some of you have pointed out), we've been on a bit of a blog hiatus. Basically, we were either traveling or had guests for about a month since our last posting. Therefore, we have lots to write about. So, expect a flurry of blogs now that we have so much free time (Ha!).

First up, our trip to the Lake in Minnesota. This was Nathaniel's first visit to our family cottage. It was also his first chance to meet his brand new cousin Kenlyn, who was born in May.

He also had lots of fun with his big cousin, MJ.

Of course, he loved having 5 dogs around to play with.

He wasn't so sure about swimming at first, but he eventually got used to the water.

It was definitely more fun when Mommy and Daddy were in the water with him.

Mommy and Daddy even got out one evening to listen to our brother-in-law's band. We also took some silly pictures.

It was a great time, and we have lots more photos. Click here to check them out.

Laura and Daniel's Visit

My little sis and her boyfriend came up for a visit last week. Despite the bad weather a couple of days we had a great time. Luckily, the day we planned our bike ride along Lake Michigan turned out to be gorgeous. Check out all our adventures: Laura & Daniel's Visit

Schroeder

I got Nathaniel a little piano, which he enjoys "playing". He is already mastering some basic techniques.
