No, it's not the newest creation from Apple. This one is a Nathaniel original. Note to self...copyright it before Apple does. The other day, Nathaniel finally decided to wear the fishing vest and hat that his Grandma Cynthia gave him for his birthday. Once he had his outfit on, I told him to go show his mommy. He quickly ran up the stairs yelling "I cute! I cute!" Quite frankly, we agree, and we're not biased...okay, maybe a little bit.
Speaking of cute, I thought I'd also include a couple more cute pictures from when his Grandma and Grandpa Appelt came to visit.

Two going on Six
Nathaniel (aka Nino) celebrated his second birthday today. We decided to keep the day low key but full of special treats. Like Halloween, Nathaniel quickly learned that birthdays are something that he liked (and worth talking about all day). He decided that he was six years old, that the lyrics to the Happy Birthday song included the word Tuesday instead of To You, and that a birthday balloon was the best gift to get.
He started the day with the often requested turtle pancakes (and turtle eggs), which Christopher's grandfather made for him when he was a little boy.
Grandma Cynthia took him out to lunch at his favorite restaurant. At Snackville Junction, your food is delivered by a train, and the kids can play with train sets while they wait for their food. Even though I don't really understand the whole fascination with trains, I've come to realize that a lot of boys (and men) LOVE them. Any time the train made it's way around the track Nathaniel would shriek in delight.
After his nap, we had cupcakes and opened presents. Nathaniel discovered his Elmo birthday balloon and it was a huge hit. Here is a video of Nathaniel excitedly telling his dad about his birthday balloon.
Nathaniel loved the Happy Birthday song (and his "upcake"). Here is a video of us singing and Nathaniel blowing out his candle. He spent the rest of the evening singing the Happy Birthday song, and even though we corrected him many times, he still insisted on singing Happy Birthday, Tuesday.
Happy birthday, Nino. We love you.
